Abstract—The inhibition effect of Poly Ethylene Glycol (PEG) as corrosion inhibitor for lead and lead free solders in 1 N HCl solution was investigated by weight loss method and electrochemical methods. The inhibition efficiency was increased with increase in inhibitor concentration up to optimum concentration for lead and lead free solders in acidic medium. Polarization measurements reveal that PEG acts as a mixed-type inhibitor. PEG was found to be better inhibitor for lead free solders.
